Pregnant Lady Book-Ends

This is my friend Damaris who is 38 weeks. I am officially the big 4-0 today!!! (That's weeks and not years, just to clarify ;)

I got so tickled yesterday at the comment that was made after church as we were taking this picture together. Someone said that we looked like pregnant lady book-ends!! I couldn't agree more!

I have another doctor's appointment tomorrow so I'll update then. Hopefully it will be my last one!

Coffee anyone??

So, it happened again last night.......

Donald and I had a group of friends over for dinner. After the meal I served dessert with coffee. It never fails that as I watch people's reaction to the coffee, it's not good. Most take a few sips and then just hold it for the rest of the night and try to casually pour it down the drain before their hostess sees it! I can't for the life of me make a good pot of coffee!! And I don't blame them for wanting to get rid of it. I'm actually a snob when it comes to coffee. I don't drink instant and I'll also not waste my calories on an inferior cup of joe at some one's house. My problem is that as much as I love a good cup, I can't drink much because of my sensitivity to caffeine. I've downgraded to decaf but still have my limits with it. So, Donald and I rarely ever make coffee at home for ourselves. However, I love to entertain and have people over to the house. I enjoy thinking through a menu and making a night special for our company. And to me, nothing tops off a night or makes conversation between friends any better than sharing a "good" cup of coffee.

So, I need your help! Most directions say 2 Tbs per cup of coffee, but this just seems so strong to me, so I experiment with each new pot. As you can see, I also have way too many varieties to choose from and I think that different flavors and roasts require differing amounts per cup. My plan is to find ONE brand with a roast and flavor that I like and try to perfect it. I'm going to "eat this frog" so that I cease from coming up against this problem again. (See previous post).

I would love to get suggestions from all you coffee connoisseurs out there. What's your favorite cup of joe and how many Tbs per cup. I'm willing to try your suggestions until I find that perfect pot that I'll be proud to serve to my guests!

Eat that frog!!

"Eat a live frog every morning, and nothing worse will happen to you the rest of the day." Mark Twain

Anyone but me like to procrastinate? Okay, it's not that I 'like' to, it's just that I've gotten in the nasty habit over my lifetime. Every day there seems to be something on my to-do list that I keep putting off until the next day because I just don't want to do it. Sometimes, a month later, it's still on the list.

So, back to the quote....The basic idea is that if you do the worst thing on your plate first thing in the morning, the rest of the day is a cake walk (Organizingyourway.net). So, I've been "eating my frog" so to speak and it's working for me. It's nice to be free of that pesky task and not have to stare at it for weeks......or months. I like this.

The Waiting Game

Well, I'm at 39 weeks today and just got back from my doctor's appointment. I was hoping that he would tell me, seeing as I have only a week before his due date, that I had progressed a lot since last week. I have progressed, but just a little. Here is the breakdown. I've been at station -3 for the past three weeks (station 0 being the beginning of labor and station +5 being the crowning of his little head). I've been effacing about 10% a week and am at 70% this week. I have dilated since last week but I'm only at 1/2cm. So, it looks like I probably will not give birth before or on his due date (March 8th). I have an appointment next Tuesday and we'll more than likely have some decisions to make about inducing labor. Unless I've made some good progress! I really hope so! I want to go into labor on my own, but know it's not the end of the the world if I can't.

I'll keep you posted! No pun intended. :)

first time blogger...

Wow, I'm not sure where to begin!! It's been a goal of mine for over a year to start a blog as a way of keeping in touch with folks. Some of you may not know that I've kept in touch through your blogs because I don't always leave comments. However, it's been my morning ritual to sit down at my computer, with my breakfast, and enjoy the highlights from your lives. I love the personality that each blog has and how it touches my life in different ways. So, we'll see what personality unfolds from my blog!
